Timothée Chalamet Brings 'Heart and Truth' to Origin Story of Willy Wonka in New Prequel Film

Director Paul King praised Timothée Chalamet's portrayal of Willy Wonka, saying he brought heart and emotional truth to the role.
The prequel film explores Wonka's backstory while maintaining continuity with the 1971 Gene Wilder film.
King said there was a steady supply of chocolate on set thanks to an incredible chocolatier, and the cast immersed themselves in a massive tub of hot chocolate for one scene.
King chose Chalamet as his only choice for Wonka and says the actor didn't even have to audition after the director saw his musical talents on YouTube.
The prequel film called "Wonka" will be released on December 15, 2023 with Chalamet as a younger Wonka than portrayed in Roald Dahl's novel.
