Timms Review Issues First Update on PIP, Confirms 12-Member Steering Group

Leaders say current rules stay in place pending findings to be delivered to ministers and Parliament in autumn 2026.

Overview

  • Co-chairs Sir Stephen Timms, Sharon Brennan and Dr Clenton Farquharson set out a co-produced process centered on disabled people’s voices.
  • Twelve members were selected from more than 340 applicants for the steering group, with final appointments to be confirmed shortly.
  • An external organisation will support the participation programme to facilitate co-production across the review.
  • This is the first in a series of public updates, with further posts to be published on GOV.UK and the next newsletter introducing the steering group members.
  • The review is examining whether PIP is fair and fit for the future, with implications for nearly four million claimants across the UK.
