Time Change Nears: EU Clocks Fall Back Oct. 26, U.S. and Mexico Border Areas Nov. 2

Travelers and businesses should check automatic time settings and schedules, as exceptions in parts of the U.S. and Mexico mean not everyone shifts their clocks.

Overview

  • Most of the United States will return to standard time on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 2:00 a.m., when clocks move from 2:00 back to 1:00.
  • Spain and the rest of the European Union switch earlier, on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 3:00 a.m. local (peninsular) time, reverting to 2:00, according to official timekeeping guidance.
  • Exceptions include Hawaii, most of Arizona (with the Navajo Nation observing the change), Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • Mexico ended nationwide DST in 2022, but 35 northern border municipalities will also fall back on Nov. 2 at 2:00 a.m. to stay aligned with U.S. border communities.
  • Health and operations experts recommend gradual sleep shifts of 10–15 minutes, verifying device settings, and double-checking travel plans, calendars and IT tasks scheduled during the repeated hour.
