Timberwolves Re-Sign Backup Center Naz Reid With Lucrative 3-Year Deal

Naz Reid has signed a new three-year, $42 million contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, which includes a player option for the 2025-2026 season.
Reid had his best season in 2022-23, averaging 11.5 points and 4.9 rebounds per game before a season-ending wrist fracture.
Reid emerged as a bench player behind Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert in the Timberwolves' frontcourt and became an attractive target throughout the league.
Reid would have become an unrestricted free agent despite his age because he signed a four-year deal with Minnesota entering his rookie year.
The Timberwolves may have to make a decision in the future about which big man to keep due to anticipated lucrative extensions for Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels and the steeper financial and team building penalties for teams that exceed the luxury tax.
