Spears's memoir, 'The Woman in Me,' extensively documented her relationship with Timberlake from 1999 to 2002. She revealed Timberlake encouraged her to have an abortion, leading to intense public scrutiny of their past relationship.
In response to the criticism, Timbaland emphasized his respect for women and freedom of speech, stating, 'Who am I to tell you what not to speak? And I was wrong for saying that.' He also admitted to having his own mental health issues and triggers.
Despite the apology, Spears's fanbase quickly criticized Timbaland online for his comment. He acknowledged that some of Spears's fans are also his fans, implying he did not want to lose their support.
