Tim Westwood Charged With Four Counts of Rape and Multiple Sexual Offences Dating Back to 1983

Prosecutors say the case meets the threshold for trial, with a first court appearance on 11 November.

Overview

  • The Crown Prosecution Service authorised charges and the Metropolitan Police have charged the 68-year-old former BBC DJ with four counts of rape, nine counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual assault.
  • The alleged non-recent offences involve seven women and are said to have occurred between 1983 and 2016.
  • Westwood is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 11 November 2025, according to official CPS and Met statements.
  • Police outlined allegations including incidents involving 17-year-olds and women in their 20s in locations across London as well as Stroud, Gloucestershire, in 2010.
  • The CPS said there is sufficient evidence and a public interest to prosecute, reminded media of victims’ lifelong anonymity and fair-trial rules, and police urged anyone with information to come forward; Westwood has previously denied wrongdoing.
