TikTok Removes Prison Rap Videos by Acid Attacker After Outcry

Officials say prisoners who use phones or social media face punishment.

Overview

  • Robbie Scott, 22, posted clips under the handle "HMP hardest rapper Robdog" that were geotagged to HMP Manchester (Strangeways).
  • The Sun reports TikTok has taken the videos down and says the prison is investigating the posts recorded from Scott’s cell.
  • Scott was jailed after admitting GBH with intent, robbery, possessing a knife and a corrosive substance, and resisting arrest, with his term later increased to 11 years as unduly lenient.
  • Victim Paul Laskey, 43, who lost sight in his left eye and underwent two cornea transplants and an amnion graft, called the videos a disgrace.
  • It was reported the Ministry of Justice asked TikTok to remove the content, and HM Prison Service reiterated that offenders caught using phones or social media can receive extra time behind bars.
