Overview
- Voice notes up to 60 seconds and the ability to send up to nine images or videos at once are rolling out to one-to-one and group chats over the next few weeks.
- Recording uses a hold-to-record control with a swipe-to-lock option, and recordings auto-send when you release unless you cancel.
- Users can capture media in-app or choose from the camera roll and edit photos or videos before sending.
- Initial message requests cannot include user-captured photos or videos, allowing only TikTok content to reduce unsolicited media.
- Direct messages remain unavailable to users under 16, and 16–18-year-olds get automated nudity detection that blocks sending and receiving, with an optional toggle for adults.
