Overview
- UK news sites on Monday highlighted a TikTok explainer from “The No. 1 Bin man” about why some rubbish is left behind on collection day.
- He says crews leave bagged recycling because items must be loose and plastic bags can taint the whole truckload.
- He adds that extra general waste is often left because households pay for one bin and rounds have weight limits.
- He advises people to book an extra collection or request another bin through their council, which can cost money, or take overflow to the local tip.
- Other bin workers said their councils set different rules, with some teams told to take side waste or pick up cardboard placed next to the bin.
