Tijuana Officer Slain Outside Home as Police Detain Suspects and Seize Weapons

Investigators probe a cluster of Oct. 1–2 shootings across Tijuana, with a separate attack wounding a PDI agent in Mexico City.

  • Municipal officer Jorge Robledo Hernández was shot multiple times as he arrived at his home in Paseos del Vergel on Oct. 1, with security-camera footage of the ambush circulating on social media.
  • During overnight operations after the killing, authorities detained a man identified as Jorge Julián “N” with illicit substances, and officials have not stated a direct link to the officer’s homicide.
  • Municipal patrols in Sánchez Taboada detained five males and turned them over to the federal prosecutor after seizing a 9mm pistol, a .223-caliber rifle and ammunition, including one detainee with a homicide warrant.
  • Separate Tijuana cases included a man fatally shot while eating at a mariscos stand in Colonia Libertad Parte Baja, where police recovered shell casings and reported no arrests.
  • Another man was found shot dead inside a wooden dwelling in Maclovio Rojas as FGE processed the scene, and in Mexico City a PDI agent, Miguel Ángel Mares, was hospitalized after being shot by two motorcyclists in Tlalpan.
