Tigress Reunited With Four Cubs After Rescue in Mysuru

The reunion follows intensified operations that captured 22 tigers across Mysuru to curb conflict.

Overview

  • Forest officials darted and captured an approximately 11-year-old tigress from a field at Gowdanakatte near the Nagarahole periphery on Nov. 27.
  • After night surveillance with a thermal drone, four cubs estimated at three to four months old were located on Nov. 30 in farmer Ravikumar’s maize field and secured using nets.
  • Veterinarian Dr. Adarsh examined the cubs and certified them to be in good health before they were shifted to the Chamundi Wildlife Rescue, Conservation and Rehabilitation Centre at Koorgalli.
  • The tigress and cubs have been reunited at the Chamundi centre under monitoring, with any release awaiting approval from the Chief Wildlife Warden.
  • From Oct. 12 to Nov. 30, officials report 22 tiger captures across Mysuru, including 12 cubs, as part of measures responding to seasonal breeding pressures and recent human fatalities.
