Akil Baddoo underwent surgery on Thursday to repair a fractured hamate bone in his right hand, the Detroit Tigers announced.
The injury was identified after Baddoo experienced persistent wrist soreness during the start of spring training.
Baddoo, 26, is a non-roster invitee at spring training after being outrighted to Triple-A Toledo in December 2024.
He is expected to miss 4-8 weeks, which will keep him out of spring training and potentially delay his availability for the regular season.
Baddoo has a career batting average of .226 with 28 home runs and 103 RBIs across 340 MLB games since debuting in 2021.
