Tiger and Wild Boar Rescued After Falling Into Well During Chase in Madhya Pradesh

The animals were safely extracted after a four-hour operation in Seoni district, sparking calls for better safety measures around open wells in forested areas.

A tiger cub and a wild boar fell into an uncovered well in Pipariya Harduli village, Madhya Pradesh, during a chase on February 4, 2025.
The incident occurred in the buffer zone of the Pench Tiger Reserve and was discovered by villagers early in the morning.
A four-hour rescue operation involving 60 wildlife officials successfully extracted both animals unharmed using a cot, cage, and hydraulic crane.
The tiger cub was prioritized during the rescue and will be relocated to the Nauradehi Wildlife Sanctuary within the Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve.
Wildlife officials have urged local authorities to cover or fence open wells to prevent similar incidents involving wild animals in the future.
