- The 50th edition will open with Colin Hanks’s documentary John Candy: I Like Me on Sept. 4 and close with Anne Émond’s Peak Everything on Sept. 14.
- Gala screenings will host world premieres from celebrity directors Aziz Ansari, Maude Apatow, Brian Cox, James McAvoy, Bobby Farrelly and Alex Winter.
- Special Presentations will feature Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein starring Oscar Isaac, Baz Luhrmann’s EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, Jonatan Etzler’s Bad Apples and Alice Winocour’s Couture.
- More than 50 new titles were added today with premiere statuses ranging from world debuts to North American and Canadian premieres.
- TIFF organizers plan additional lineup announcements through early August as they finalize the slate for the Sept. 4–14 festival.
