Overview
- On July 16, TIFF programmers unveiled 11 additional world premieres for its 50th edition, comprising six Gala titles and five Special Presentation screenings.
- Gala additions include Nicholas Hytner’s First World War drama The Choral and Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet, which will make its Canadian premiere following screenings at Venice and Telluride.
- Special Presentations now feature Rian Johnson’s Knives Out sequel Wake Up Dead Man set to debut at TIFF before streaming on Netflix December 12 and Paul Greengrass’s wildfire drama The Lost Bus starring Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera.
- The newly announced lineup also adds Derek Cianfrance’s crime caper Roofman with Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst opening in October via Paramount and Brendan Fraser’s Rental Family, slated for a November release from Searchlight Pictures.
- The 50th Toronto International Film Festival runs September 4–14, 2025, with a full schedule announcement expected in early August as the festival cements its role as a launchpad for awards-season contenders and global distribution deals.
