- Running Sept. 4–14, the Toronto International Film Festival’s 50th edition features an official selection of 291 films.
- High-profile world premieres will bring Russell Crowe (Nuremberg), Sydney Sweeney (Christy) and Daniel Craig (Knives Out: Wake Up Dead Man), with organizers calling Crowe’s turn as Hermann Goering unexpectedly disarming.
- Festival Street marks its 10th year Sept. 4–7 on King Street West with free entertainment and activations, including the Criterion Mobile Closet’s Canadian debut, art and food markets, and an opening ceremony tied to TIFF’s star on Canada’s Walk of Fame.
- Cinema Park returns to David Pecaut Square with free outdoor screenings at 10 p.m. with open captions, featuring anniversary showings such as The Goonies (Sept. 4) and Best in Show (Sept. 8), plus additional titles through Sept. 13.
- Public programming also includes the free Rogers TIFF 50 Timescape in Yorkville Sept. 5–7 with live music and interactive exhibits, and a Sept. 13 TTC Free Screening at the Royal Alexandra Theatre with complimentary Ticketmaster tickets using code “TIFFTTC.”
