Ticketmaster and AXS Cap Olivia Dean Tour Resales at Face Value and Offer Refunds

The companies acted after Dean condemned soaring markups, promising to return the difference to fans who bought overpriced resales on their platforms by Dec. 10.

Overview

  • Ticketmaster activated its Face Value Exchange for Olivia Dean’s North American dates, and AXS is enforcing a face-value cap on future resales.
  • Fans who purchased marked-up resale tickets on Ticketmaster and AXS will receive partial refunds reflecting the difference from the original price, with processing expected by about Dec. 10.
  • Ticketmaster says it will absorb the refund costs and notes it does not receive reseller markups.
  • Resale listings had climbed to more than 14 times face value, with prices reported over $700 and some exceeding $1,000.
  • Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino said the company cannot force other marketplaces to follow the caps, as broader regulatory pressure grows, including a proposed U.K. ban on resales above face value and an FTC lawsuit in the U.S.
