Overview
- Ticket registration for the Pope’s Mass at Base Aérea Las Palmas began Thursday, Nov. 5, with free but nominative and non-transferable tickets available on Ticketmaster through Nov. 8 and a limit of eight requests per user.
- Each Ticketmaster pass will show an assigned block, gate and one of three staggered entry waves — 10:00 p.m. on Nov. 15, 1:00 a.m. on Nov. 16 or 4:00 a.m. on Nov. 16 — and attendees must present the same physical ID used at registration to enter.
- Chiclayo’s Pampas de Pimentel site is being graded and outfitted for the Nov. 13 mass with 15 entry points, 15 giant screens, about 3,000 police officers deployed, 50 free buses for people with reduced mobility and a special zone for 600+ choir voices and the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional.
- Local business groups forecast major short-term gains from the Chiclayo events, with hotels in the city center near full capacity and chambers projecting large tourism and export promotion opportunities including pitched new air links such as a Chiclayo–Cusco route.
- Authorities warn of operational strains and crowd risks from one-million-plus crowds and note mitigation steps in place such as block-based ingress, medical and hydration points, disability access, designated parking and extensive police and volunteer support.
