- The Kulturarena in Jena opened Wednesday with the world premiere of Peter Neugschwentner’s surrealist comedy “Laszlos Herz” on the hottest day of the year.
- The seven-week Kulturarena runs through August 17 with 56 events, and headline concerts by Zartmann, Edwin Rosen, Amy Macdonald, Max Herre & Joy Denalane and Zaz are already sold out.
- The 33rd Rudolstadt-Festival begins July 3 with nearly 1,000 artists from 30 countries performing across 130 groups on 30 stages for an expected 90,000 visitors.
- Organizers raised Rudolstadt ticket prices by ten percent and provided cooling rooms in nearby schools in addition to free water at stages to counter extreme heat.
- Preparations are under way for August open-airs: Erfurt’s Domstufen-Festspiele will stage Puccini’s La Bohème with a 16-metre Eiffel Tower set and a slide, followed by the SonneMondSterne techno festival at the Bleichlochtalsperre.
