Thundercade Returns to Consoles With Arcade Archives Releases on October 15

Hamster’s dual-tier release uses VRR to better match arcade timing, introducing a Time Attack mode that shifts focus from high score to completion speed.

Overview

  • Hamster confirmed that Thundercade will launch digitally on Thursday, October 15, with Arcade Archives 2 editions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2 and Arcade Archives editions for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
  • The Arcade Archives 2 edition is priced at $9.99 while the Arcade Archives edition is $7.99, and players can upgrade from the lower tier to ACA2 for $2.99.
  • Both releases include Arcade Archives staples such as difficulty and display settings, rewind, rapid-fire, multiple save slots and online high-score leaderboards to preserve the arcade feel for modern play.
  • The ACA2 build adds a Time Attack mode that scores players on completion speed rather than points and adds Variable Refresh Rate support to better reproduce original arcade timing and visuals.
  • Thundercade is a 1987 SETA motorcycle shooter and its reissue arrives through Hamster’s Arcade Archives program, with storefront listings appearing ahead of launch and simultaneous regional pricing shown in yen and dollars.
