Overview
- A landslide and floods on Aug. 26 near the Nepal–China (Tibet) border swept through hydropower sites and buried workers inside multiple plant tunnels.
- Two Nepali workers were found about 40 metres inside a tunnel and rescued on Sept. 4, and a Chinese national was pulled from a tunnel on Sept. 5.
- Rescue teams cleared roughly 20,000 cubic metres of rock and mud over several days to reach the buried tunnel sections and supplied oxygen and water through gaps to sustain survivors.
