Overview
- The collision occurred around 5:25 a.m. on August 18 between Bamunigaon and Boko stations as an NMG goods train and the Guwahati-bound Puri–Kamakhya Express passed on adjacent tracks.
- Northeast Frontier Railway confirmed the run-over and identified the train as No. 15643 operating on the Kamakhya–Goalpara route.
- The victims were identified as Rumi Das, Korabi Malu and Uttara Das, all residents of nearby Boko village.
- Local accounts say the women shifted to an adjacent track after hearing a horn from one direction and were then struck by the express approaching from the opposite side.
- Boko police recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem as they began an inquiry, while residents cite years of accidents and a frequently waterlogged underpass that pushes people to use the open crossing; claims about train speed and horn use remain unverified.
