Three Waterbury Men Indicted for Robberies, Carjackings and Detective Shooting

Detained since February, the trio faces mandatory minimum sentences of 17 years to life under federal Hobbs Act robbery charges with separate firearm counts following a seven-count indictment.

  • A Bridgeport federal grand jury on August 7 returned a seven-count indictment charging Arian Perez-Feliciano, Alberto Rodriguez and Sydney Reid with conspiracy, robbery, carjacking and firearms offenses.
  • The indictment alleges the men conspired to steal firearms and marijuana before carrying out armed robberies and using stolen vehicles in attempted carjackings.
  • On February 13, during a Waterbury pursuit after an attempted carjacking on Waterville Street, Arian Perez-Feliciano allegedly opened fire on Detective Ronald Sackett, striking him in the thigh.
  • Detective Sackett returned fire without striking the suspects and was treated at Waterbury Hospital for a wound to his upper leg.
  • Conviction on all seven counts—spanning Hobbs Act robbery, attempted and completed carjacking and multiple firearms charges—carries a mandatory minimum of 17 years in prison up to life imprisonment.
