Israel Vázquez, known as 'El Magnífico,' was a three-time super bantamweight world champion with a career record of 44-5 and 32 knockouts.
He was renowned for his intense four-fight rivalry with fellow Mexican boxer Rafael Márquez, with two of their bouts earning Fight of the Year honors in 2007 and 2008.
Vázquez faced significant health challenges after his career, including a detached retina and systemic sclerosis, and was diagnosed with stage 4 sarcoma in late 2024.
The boxing community rallied to support him during his illness, raising funds for his treatment and honoring his contributions to the sport.
