Three Teen Girls Plead Guilty to Manslaughter in Fatal Islington Attack

The 15, 16 and 17-year-olds have been remanded in custody ahead of their September sentencing following the fatal February assault in Islington.

  • The girls surrounded Fredi Rivero near a Seven Sisters Road bus stop on February 27 and set upon the 75-year-old by punching, kicking and shoving him while one attacker filmed the beating.
  • Rivero, a Bolivian father, was discovered unconscious after sustaining severe head injuries and died the following day at the Royal London Hospital.
  • Metropolitan Police recovered CCTV of the fatal assault along with mobile phone videos that showed a series of random attacks on vulnerable victims over the past 18 months.
  • Court records show the 15-year-old, 16-year-old and 17-year-old defendants held previous convictions for offences including assaults on emergency workers and attacks on homeless individuals.
  • Judge Judy Khan KC has ordered pre-sentencing reports and remanded the teenagers in custody ahead of their September 5 manslaughter sentencing.
