Overview

  • Two paramedics, a 24-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man, were abducted on August 10 while responding to a medical call in Chihuahua and driven toward Parral in a stolen ambulance.
  • Elements of the Mexican Army discovered the victims tied under a bridge near Hidalgo del Parral and freed them without serious injuries.
  • Following the rescue, two suspects—22-year-old Marco Antonio S. Y. and 35-year-old Carlos Iván R. F.—were captured after the ambulance crashed into a post in the Villas del Tecnológico neighborhood.
  • A third suspect, 25-year-old Javier D. C., was detained in a separate operation on the Periférico Luis Donaldo Colosio after allegedly acting as a lookout.
  • Authorities credited the interagency Células BOI operation involving the AEIF, SSP, Sedena and the National Guard, and are probing possible links between the suspects and wider criminal networks.
