Overview

• Tolga Yilmaz, 34, was arrested at Montréal–Trudeau Airport on August 8 and charged under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and the Customs Act.
• Investigators linked Yilmaz to an August 3 cube truck interception near Stanstead that halted 44 migrants who entered without reporting at a designated port of entry.
• Two suspects, Can Volkan, 25, and Kurey Recep, 27, were arrested on August 10 in the Valleyfield region while allegedly smuggling 11 foreign nationals and now face similar charges.
• Authorities say the joint RCMP–CBSA probe remains active with potential additional arrests as investigators seek connections to other recent smuggling events.
• Migrants intercepted during these operations are undergoing screening and may be returned to the U.S. under the Safe Third Country Agreement.
