Three Survive Small Plane Crash on Vermont's Mount Equinox

Rescue teams braved deep snow and rugged terrain to airlift the injured passengers to safety after the crash early Wednesday morning.

A Piper PA-28 aircraft carrying three people crashed into Mount Equinox, Vermont, at approximately 3:50 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
All three individuals on board sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were airlifted to safety by rescue helicopters.
The plane had departed from Martin State Airport in Maryland around 6 a.m. and crashed near the mountain's summit at an elevation of about 3,200 feet.
Heavy snow, fog, and icy terrain complicated rescue efforts, with first responders using snowmobiles, snowshoes, and helicopters to reach the crash site.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the FAA and NTSB, with officials scheduled to visit the site on Friday.
