Three South Dakota Men Sentenced in Separate Federal Cases

All three were immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service following sentencing by Chief Judge Roberto A. Lange.

Derek Kennedy, 43, from Fort Thompson, South Dakota, has been sentenced to 45 days in federal prison and eight months of home confinement for assaulting, resisting, and opposing a federal officer.
Wilson Brave Heart, 51, from Mission, South Dakota, has been sentenced to 13 months in federal prison for assaulting, resisting, and impeding a federal officer.
Joseph Thompson, Sr., 32, from Lower Brule, South Dakota, has been sentenced to 10 years and eight months in federal prison for voluntary manslaughter.
All three men were immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service to begin serving their sentences.
All three cases were prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of South Dakota, under Chief Judge Roberto A. Lange, U.S. District Court.
