Three Shelby Township Men Charged After Raids Seize 1,500 Pounds of Marijuana and $380,000

Investigators say the alleged network sold untested bulk product to out-of-state buyers outside Michigan’s regulated market.

Overview

  • Search warrants were executed on Nov. 6 at three homes and a business in Shelby Township by a collaboration of local, county, and federal agencies.
  • Authorities say they recovered about 1,500 pounds of marijuana, roughly $380,000 in cash, a small amount of crack cocaine, hundreds of THC vapes and edibles, 16 grams of mushrooms and ketamine, three handguns, two AR-style rifles, and five vehicles.
  • The suspects are Mark Gojcaj, 21, Fabio Asmar, 30, and Martino Abed, 35, all Shelby Township residents taken into custody during the operation.
  • Each defendant is charged with delivering/manufacturing 45 kilograms of marijuana, conspiracy to deliver/manufacture 45 kilograms, and maintaining a drug house, with bonds set at $100,000 cash/surety.
  • Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham described the case as a sophisticated multi-state trafficking network, and officials say the multi-agency investigation is ongoing.
