Overview
- A passerby found four puppies in a box early Oct. 18 near Route 7 and Creswell Road in Belcamp and rushed them to the Humane Society of Harford County.
 - The litter was just a day or two old with eyes still closed, and morning temperatures in the low 50s heightened the risk of hypothermia.
 - Shelter staff provided emergency care that included incubator warming and bottle-feeding every few hours, with an employee covering overnight care.
 - By Sunday, an experienced foster took over; the smallest puppy died, and the remaining three are stable and thriving in foster care.
 - HSHC highlighted its pet food pantry, low-cost vaccine clinics, and foster network and asked anyone unable to care for a litter to contact the shelter instead of leaving animals outside.
