Three More Allston Car Wash Workers Granted Bond, Bringing Total to Six

Bond posting and government processing will determine releases in the coming days.

Overview

  • Sisters Clarisa and Heidy Aguilon and Felicita Escobar de Vasquez (also reported as Felicita Valladares) received $3,000 bonds from Judge Natalie Smith in Chelmsford and remain held at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility in Vermont until bond is posted.
  • Earlier in the week, Yuli Magali Mendez Luarca, Jose Enriquez Sagastume, and Dairo Preciado were granted bond by Judge Yul-mi Cho and were released Tuesday night after volunteers faced government processing delays.
  • Attorney Todd Pomerleau said the remaining detainees — Hector Valladares, Pablo Oseas Lopez, and Vanessa Vasquez Valladares — are expected to get bond hearings by the end of next week, with one currently held in Texas according to his account.
  • ICE and DHS describe the Nov. 4 action as a targeted enforcement operation, and DHS says the nine arrests include one person who re-entered the U.S. unlawfully, a felony offense.
  • Defense attorneys say the workers have no criminal records, some have work permits or pending asylum claims, and several were detained outside the car wash without a chance to present documents, with some reporting difficulty contacting counsel and inadequate conditions during detention.
