• Officials have identified the three victims as Justin Aguila, Andrew Canepa and Angel Martinez, two of whom were waiting at the Grand Sierra Resort valet station and one driving through the parking lot.
• Sparks police named the alleged shooter as 26-year-old Dakota Hawver, who legally purchased his 9mm handgun two years ago and fired about 80 rounds using multiple magazines before officers struck him.
• The attack unfolded just before 7:30 a.m. on July 28 when Hawver’s weapon jammed as he opened fire at the valet area and then resumed shooting after clearing the malfunction.
• Reno officers arrived within minutes and exchanged fire with the suspect, wounding him; one officer suffered minor injuries from glass fragments and a patrol vehicle was hit by bullets.
• The valet parking area remains closed for evidence processing, but the casino is operating through alternate entrances and authorities have confirmed there is no ongoing public threat.
