Three Men from Colorado, Pennsylvania, and Ohio Plead Guilty to Felony Charges Tied to Jan. 6 Capitol Breach

The three men, who were each involved in separate instances of violence against law enforcement during the Capitol riot, now face sentencing in 2024 for their roles in the Jan. 6 attack.

  • Avery MacCracken, from Colorado, pleaded guilty to obstructing law enforcement officers during a civil disorder on Jan. 6, 2021. His sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 21, 2024. MacCracken breached police barriers, shoved officers, and pushed into the restricted areas of the Capitol grounds.
  • Anthony Nolf, from Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty to one count of civil disorder. His sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 19, 2024. Nolf helped remove protective fencing at the Capitol, participated in violent assaults against law enforcement and joined a 'heave-ho' assault against police in the Lower West Terrace Tunnel.
  • Clifford Mackrell, from Ohio, admitted to forcibly assaulting a U.S. Capitol Police officer and pleaded guilty to one count of assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers. His sentencing is scheduled for March 5, 2024. Mackrell made aggressive efforts pushing back a police line and assaulted several officers, including pulling down an officer's gas mask.
  • All three men were involved in separate instances of violence during the Capitol riot that disrupted a joint session of U.S. Congress related to the 2020 presidential election.
  • In the 33 months since the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol breach, more than 1,100 individuals have been charged in nearly all 50 states with crimes related to the breach, including over 400 individuals charged with assaulting or impeding law enforcement, a felony. The investigations into this matter are ongoing.
