Three Men Charged in 'Kill Crew' Murder of Sydney Mother Thi Kim Tran

Police say the alleged hit team was hired over a Victorian drug syndicate dispute, with the person who ordered the killing still at large.

Overview

  • Strike Force Bushfield arrested three men, aged 20 to 32, at Parramatta police station and charged them with murder, conspiring to kill the victim’s husband, kidnapping, wounding with intent and participating in a criminal group.
  • After a brief court mention the accused were remanded in custody with their identities suppressed and the case listed to return on 17 November.
  • Investigators allege masked attackers abducted Tran at gunpoint from her Bankstown home on 17 April, assaulted an eight-year-old boy, and left her remains in a burnt-out SUV in nearby Beverly Hills.
  • Detectives say the group acted as a contracted 'kill crew' linked to a Victoria-based Vietnamese crime network, tried to lure the husband using encrypted messages and a photo, then executed Tran within about 40 minutes before torching the vehicle.
  • A fourth man, The Anh Nguyen, 29, was charged in August with facilitating the attack, as police pursue the higher-ranking instigator and warn that paid enforcers are increasingly targeting family members.
