Three Maoists With ₹5 Lakh Bounties Killed in Sukma DRG Operation

Police say the DRG-led gunfight near Tumalpad signals intensified pressure in Bastar, with 262 insurgents reported killed in Chhattisgarh this year.

Overview

  • Security officials reported an exchange of fire in Sukma’s forested Tumalpad–Kolmal Pat area after a DRG team moved in on intelligence inputs.
  • The dead were identified as Madvi Deva, a sniper specialist and Konta area committee member, and Podiam Gangi and Sodhi Gangi, both women linked to area committees.
  • Each of the three carried a ₹5 lakh reward, according to police statements from Bastar Range and Sukma district.
  • A .303 rifle, Barrel Grenade Launchers and other weapons and explosives were recovered from the scene, officials said.
  • Authorities said search operations continue in adjoining terrain as Bastar police characterise Maoism in the region as in its final stage and cite a national target to end the insurgency by March 2026.
