Three Killed, One Wounded in Two East Garfield Park Shootings

Detectives are probing both scenes with no arrests or confirmed link between the cases.

Overview

  • Police say the first attack around 10:09 p.m. on the 300 block of South Maplewood Avenue left two 38-year-old men dead after they were shot outside.
  • The second shooting about 10:47 p.m. on the 3900 block of West Gladys Avenue killed a 27-year-old woman and injured a 26-year-old man, who was hospitalized in fair condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.
  • In each incident an unidentified male approached on foot and opened fire on victims standing outside.
  • No one is in custody as Area Four detectives process both scenes and interview witnesses.
  • Authorities have not said the shootings are connected, which occurred less than an hour apart and roughly two miles from each other in East Garfield Park.
