Three Killed, Including 12-Year-Old, in Fiery Bunya Highway Crash Near Kingaroy

Police have launched a forensic crash investigation with a public appeal for witnesses.

  • The collision occurred shortly after 10pm Monday on the Bunya Highway at Taabinga near the intersection of Stuart Valley Drive and Toomey's Road.
  • A Dodge Ram ute and a Ford Ranger were involved, and the Ram caught fire after impact.
  • The male driver of the Ram died at the scene, as did the Ford Ranger's 44-year-old driver and a 12-year-old girl travelling in the Ranger.
  • A 13-year-old girl from the Ranger was taken to Kingaroy Hospital in a serious but stable condition and was later airlifted to Queensland Children's Hospital.
  • The highway remains closed with diversions in place as forensic officers examine the scene, and the crash contributes to Queensland's 2026 road toll, now reported at eight.
