Three Killed in East Garfield Park Shootings as Separate Friday Attack Wounds Two

Overview

  • Two 38-year-old men were fatally shot around 10:09 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of South Maplewood Avenue after a male approached on foot and opened fire.
  • About 40 minutes later, a 27-year-old woman was killed and a 26-year-old man was wounded in the 3900 block of West Gladys Avenue; both were taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead and he was listed in fair condition.
  • Chicago police have not said whether the two Thursday-night shootings are connected, and no one is in custody as Area Four detectives investigate.
  • On Friday night, two men, 45 and 48, were shot outside Franklin Food and Liquor in the 500 block of North Kedzie Avenue after an argument; both were hospitalized at Stroger, one in serious condition and one in fair condition, as Area Three detectives investigate.
