Three Killed as Motorcycle Hits Unmarked Barrier on Delhi's Libaspur Flyover

Investigators are weighing rider negligence alongside barrier visibility, with traffic units moving to mark the repair zone.

Overview

  • Police said the crash occurred around 1:33 am on October 22 on the Libaspur flyover, killing Sumit (27), Mohit (26) and Anurag (23), all from Nangloi.
  • Officers reported none of the riders wore helmets and the bike appeared to be speeding; CCTV is being reviewed and checks for alcohol or mechanical faults are underway.
  • A case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections 281 and 106(1) was registered at Swaroop Nagar Police Station as part of the ongoing investigation.
  • The three were taken to Burari Government Hospital and declared brought dead, with bodies later shifted to BJRM Hospital for post-mortem.
  • Officials and families said the barrier lacked reflectors or signage at the time, and reflectors plus a traffic light were later installed as Delhi Traffic Police began taping reflectors on barriers.
