Three Killed as Monsoon Floods Batter Seoul Region

Overview

  • Extreme downpours inundated Seoul and surrounding provinces, with the Korea Meteorological Administration recording 149.2 mm in one hour on Deokjeok Island.
  • Three people died when cars were swept into waterways or slid off flooded roads in Gimpo, Incheon and Pocheon.
  • About 26 residents were evacuated and authorities logged more than 70 damage reports, including flooded roads, a collapsed roadway and flooded homes.
