Three Jailed for Merthyr Retail Park Kidnap and Attempted Murder

The Newport Crown Court sentences run up to 30 years following findings that one offender led the plot.

Overview

  • Tyshane Brown, 30, was jailed for 30 years with a three-year extended licence, Luke Williams, 19, received 25 years' detention in a young offenders institution with a two-year extended licence, and George Miles-Williams, 24, was jailed for 20 years.
  • The trio were convicted of attempted murder, kidnap, blackmail, wounding with intent, possession of an imitation firearm, and possession of a bladed article.
  • Victim Connor Price, 28, was lured to Cyfarthfa Retail Park in Merthyr Tydfil, forced into a Hyundai, blindfolded, stabbed repeatedly, and subjected to a £5,000 ransom demand.
  • An imitation gun was used to threaten the victim and a driver, and Price escaped only after his father rammed the kidnappers’ car and took him to hospital for surgery on multiple wounds.
  • Investigators found the abandoned Hyundai with significant blood, identified the suspects via CCTV including BP footage, and later seized a balaclava, a knife, and matching clothing at a caravan site, with the judge deeming Brown the leader, Williams significant, and Miles-Williams secondary.
