Overview

  • The men—Amritpal Singh of Hoshiarpur, Jaspal Singh of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, and Hushanpreet Singh of Sangrur—vanished on May 1 after being lured to Tehran with promises of Australian jobs.
  • Their families received ransom demands first set at ₹1 crore and later reduced to ₹18 lakh, with the last contact occurring on May 17.
  • On June 3, a Tehran police operation in Varamin, coordinated with Iran’s Foreign Ministry and judicial authorities, located and freed the three hostages.
  • The rescued nationals are under the care of the Indian Embassy in Tehran, which is overseeing medical checks and arranging their swift repatriation.
