Three Held in Fatal Delhi Road Rage Case After CCTV Leads to Arrests

Police have charged three men with murder after CCTV footage linked them to a fatal assault in Mori Gate.

Overview

  • On June 30 an e-rickshaw carrying the suspects intercepted Bunty Kumar’s three-wheeler near Khoya Mandi following a dispute over zigzag driving, triggering a fatal assault.
  • CCTV footage from locations including Tis Hazari Courts, Kashmere Gate and Yudhishthir Setu was analysed to follow the e-rickshaw’s movements and identify the men involved.
  • Investigators arrested 27-year-old Ritesh Kumar at a Lahori Gate dry fruit shop on July 3 and subsequently took into custody 25-year-old Vicky and 33-year-old Anil.
  • All three men admitted to consuming alcohol before the incident and confessed to slapping, kicking and punching the 30-year-old labourer, who died at a hospital.
  • A murder case under Section 105/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at Kashmere Gate Police Station and the suspects now await trial.
