Three Gang Members Sentenced in Enfield Kidnapping of Pregnant Woman

Prison terms totalling 21 years follow a trial that exposed a plot to extort cash through threats to sever her fingers during her six-month pregnancy

  • They were convicted of conspiracy to kidnap after abducting a six-month pregnant woman to extort cash and jewellery through threats of violence.
  • Audi Johnson, Ahmad Ghiasi and Nicholas Mitchell received sentences of five years four months, seven years and nine years respectively at Kingston Crown Court, totalling 21 years behind bars.
  • Police tracked the white van on the night of the May 2024 abduction and used CCTV, DNA, fingerprint impressions and mobile phone data to identify the suspects.
  • In her impact statement the victim described enduring trauma, displacement and an inability to return home for the remainder of her pregnancy and beyond.
  • Detective Inspector Ari Yoganathan of the Metropolitan Police’s Flying Squad said the verdict sends a clear warning to organised gangs involved in targeted extortion.
