Three Early-Morning Fires in Norway, Maine Trigger Multi-Agency Investigation
A state fire marshal investigator rescued sleeping residents after spotting a third blaze during a response.
Overview
- Authorities reported fires at 69 Beal St. just before 2 a.m., at 32 Alpine St. at 2:47 a.m., and an additional active fire discovered at 27 Alpine St.
- All three locations sit within roughly half a mile of each other in the same neighborhood.
- The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office is leading the probe with support from the Oxford and Androscoggin county sheriffs, local police departments, and the ATF.
- Investigators have not announced a cause and asked anyone with information to call the Maine Department of Public Safety in Augusta at 207-624-7076.
- The cluster follows a February blaze on Beal Street that destroyed a building described by officials as a frequent site for squatters.
