Overview

  • Three members of the Pache family—Sevak (30), his wife Renuka (28) and nephew Bhojraj (28)—were electrocuted when their motorcycle hit a live 11 kV wire between Sarra and Nevarwahi villages on June 24.
  • A fallen tree branch had pulled the overhead line down during monsoon rains, causing it to sag into the path of the family’s bike and trigger a fatal fire.
  • Lanji police, electricity department officials and local MLA Rajkumar Karrahe responded to the scene, recovered the bodies and arranged post-mortem examinations.
  • Sub-divisional Magistrate Kamalchandra Singhsar confirmed that the victims’ next of kin are eligible for statutory compensation from the electricity department.
  • The incident reflects a growing pattern of electrocution accidents during India’s rainy season and has renewed demands for more rigorous electrical infrastructure inspections.
