Overview

  • The outbreak has struck at least four villages in Ganjam district, including Dampur, Fasiguda and Ustapalli.
  • Three villagers—Sambaru Mallick (63), Kandara Mallick (60) and Sukura Mallick (45)—have died since July 21 and seven others remain hospitalized with symptoms of vomiting and loose motions.
  • Medical teams from the Ganjam District Health Department and MKCG Medical College have established a temporary health camp and deployed mobile units for surveillance.
  • The Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department has disinfected tube wells and distributed halogen tablets alongside ORS packets while local workers conduct hygiene awareness drives.
  • Stool and water samples have been collected by officials and sent for laboratory testing to identify the exact pathogen behind the illnesses.
