Overview
- The collision occurred on Sunday, June 14, between the islands of Brač and Šolta near Split when a regular passenger catamaran struck a sailing yacht and the smaller vessel sank.
- Croatian authorities confirmed three fatalities and one person still missing, and the Czech embassy reported the dead and injured are Czech nationals.
- All 118 passengers and seven crew on the catamaran were reported uninjured while four people from the sailboat were rescued alive from the water.
- An underwater drone located the sunken yacht at a depth of more than 50 meters and harbour officials said salvage and recovery operations were scheduled to begin the next day.
- Investigators have opened an inquiry and local ferry traffic on the Split–Vis route was temporarily suspended with service planned to resume the following day, and the deep recovery work could delay return of remains and evidence.
