Three Children Die in Jackson County, Ky., House Fire as State Police Investigate

State police lead a multi-agency probe with the cause still undetermined.

  • Troopers from KSP Post 7 were called just before midnight Tuesday to a home on Upper Dry Fork Road in McKee.
  • Preliminary findings confirmed three children—ages 7 months, 2 years, and 3 years—were pronounced dead at the scene.
  • A 4-year-old was first taken to UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital then transferred to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus for further care.
  • Three injured adults, identified as Tyler Monst, 23, Morgan Johnson, 22, and Florence Johnson, 76, were transported to UK Hospital.
  • The inquiry is led by Detective Anthony Bowling with assistance from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, multiple fire departments, and the county coroner.
